The Great Mosque (Fatima Khatoun) is located in the city center of Jenin, and is considered one of its most important religious and archaeological historical landmarks. It was built by Mrs. Fatima Khatun, daughter of Muhammad al-Ashraf bin Qansuh al-Ghuri, the Mamluk sultan who was defeated by the Ottoman Sultan Selim I in the famous battle of Marj Dabiq, and the wife of the Bosnian Grand Vizier, Lala Mustafa Pasha.
