This amazing initiative, which includes a museum and botanical gardens, is a joint venture between the Museum and the Institute of Biodiversity and Sustainability at Bethlehem University, which focuses on research, education and conservation. The museum was open to the public in 2017, and hosts a collection of over 6,000 animal specimens, including living scorpions, snakes, lizards and mealworm colonies. It also owns a physical and digital library, which includes photographs, books and documentation, all of which contribute to the research and conservation processes. The Museum runs interactive exhibitions and an animal rehabilitation unit, and aspires to create a botanical garden as a permaculture research facility and a space for offsite conservation of wild plants and a selection of endangered animals.
